Israel closes off parts of Hebron
Settler families have occupied a building they call the 'house of peace' since March 2007 [AFP]

Israel has declared parts of the West Bank city of Hebron a closed military area, following a forceful removal of settlers  who have defied an eviction order and staged violent protests.

The order on Wednesday affects the immediate vicinity of the house in which at least 100 Jewish settlers have lived since 2007, but which the Israeli high court ordered evacuated on November 16.

"The sector around the house has been decreed a closed military  zone," a military spokesman said.

He said that Israelis are barred from entering the Palestinian areas of the city.

The Haaretz daily suggested the order was part of preparations for a forceful eviction, which it said could be carried out by the end of the week.

Clashes frequently occur between both sides due to the enclave in Hebron [AFP]
Thirteen settler families, who have been facing eviction for 18 months, have vowed to resist an Israeli court order to leave the building in Hebron that they insist they bought from Palestinians.

The settler families have occupied the building, which they call the "house of peace", since March 2007.

The order was issued after a day of violence in Hebron, in which 20 Palestinians and 18 Israelis were injured, according to the Israeli media.

Settlers and Palestinians on Monday threw stones at each other, at least two cars belonging to Palestinians were set ablaze in what the Israeli army described as a "riot" and graves at a Muslim cemetery were desecrated.

Clashes frequently occur between both sides because of a settler enclave established in the heart of Hebron and a further 6,500-strong settlement living in Kiryat Arba on the outskirts of the city.

What a lovely bunch. Earlier this year after defiling a mosque, throwing their own excrement at Palestinian homes one of these creatures looked into the camera of a human rights observer and shouted "we killed your Jesus and we're glad we did" Why has Israel taken so long to act. The incidents on the same film showed the Israeli soldiers doing nothing as the settlers threw rocks , shoved Palestinians and international workers alike. They knew IDF would do nothing but protect them.

what is much less likely to be reported, will be the settler retribution. the settlers will most CERTAINLY go on a rampage through H2 and will vandalize and terrorize the palestinian residents. I was present during the eviction of a settler family from a fruit market last summer, and the same thing happened (and happens every time, where there is no law governing settler activities)

Hebron Settlers
These ultra extreme Jewish settlers represent the most obvious example of the clear racism and facism associated with Zionism. The whole world must wake up and stop these racist foreign settlers and their colonial agenda. None of these people have the right to travel to Palestine and settle on Palestinian owned land by force.
